The Impossibility of Self-Salvation

This powerful exploration of Mark 10:17–31 challenges us to confront one of the most difficult questions in our faith journey: what are we truly holding onto that keeps us from fully following Jesus? Through the story of the rich young ruler, we see that the issue is not wealth itself, but our unwillingness to surrender whatever has become our functional god.

The message reveals a profound truth that transforms how we understand salvation: what is impossible for humanity becomes possible through God. We cannot earn eternal life through good works or moral achievements. Many people operate under the belief that being “good enough” will save them, but Scripture makes it clear that no one is righteous on their own. We have all fallen short of God’s perfect standard.

Yet this is where the beauty of the gospel shines brightest. While we cannot save ourselves through human effort, God made a way through Jesus Christ. At the cross, our sin was placed on the sinless Savior, and His righteousness was given to all who place their faith in Him.

This message not only deepens our understanding of the gospel, but also equips us to share it with clarity, truth, and compassion in a world searching for hope.
